From his many years of traveling and ministering in the villages and islands of Indonesia as an itinerant evangelist and church planter, Brother P saw the need for “an unconventional training center.” This vision gave birth to the Yogyakarta Missionary Training Center. In 1990, 16 young Indonesian missionaries, all from Java Island, committed themselves to meet regularly and to encourage one another in spiritual growth. This was the first group to be trained through the center. Now missionaries come to YMTC from many parts of Indonesia to receive instruction and intensive training in practical Christian work. They are then sent to the field for hands-on ministry experience, after which they return to the center for further training before being sent out as church planters and itinerant evangelists. The Lord is using YMTC as one of the key missionary-training institutes in Indonesia--the world’s most populous Muslim nation.
